LOS ANGELES, March 11, 2026 — City officials in Los Angeles are continuing efforts to address the region’s housing shortage by supporting new affordable housing developments and policies designed to increase construction. California has faced rising housing costs for several years, making it difficult for many residents to find affordable homes. Officials say the shortage of housing supply is one of the main reasons prices and rents continue to increase. To help address the issue, Los Angeles leaders have supported programs that give incentives to developers who include affordable housing units in their projects. These programs can allow benefits such as zoning flexibility or faster approval processes if developers agree to build homes that lower-income families can afford. Supporters say these policies will increase the number of available homes and help stabilize housing costs. However, some housing advocates believe more action is still needed, including stronger tenant protections and additional government investment in affordable housing. City officials say they will continue reviewing housing policies and development projects as they work to address the housing crisis in Los Angeles and across California.

I agree with Los Angeles leaders about doing the program where they help the communities by building houses, which with these actions would help families that can’t afford housing and also help them be financially good in the future.
