The tension between the United States and Iran grew much stronger after the US military launched multiple airstrikes on several targets in Iran. According to the US Central Command states that the attack occurred due to “Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression. Indicating that Iran’s behavior has been threatening and alarming and needs to be stopped before it actively gets worse. Soon after the strikes had been launched, President Donald Trump spoke, stating that the bombing would “stop shortly.” He stated that Iranian officials personally contacted him to end the attack. Donald Trump responded by saying that if both countries don’t agree, he warned that the US could start to attack again if no deal is made. Iran responded fiercely to the US strikes, declaring that one of the most important waterways in the world that most people rely on to move things such as oil, called the “Strait of Hormuz,” would be closed to all ships immediately.

This would cause a major negative impact for countries all around the world. The US instantly responded, stating that Iran’s claims were untrue and that the strait would remain open. As tension continued to grow, the diplomats attempted to calm things down. A Qatari delegation was in Iran already, aiming to get both sides to talk and understand each other. Their main priority was to help Iran and the US find a calm and safe way to tame the situation before things progressively got worse. As things continued, people around the world were hoping things didn’t get worse. This situation had many countries concerned that this conflict could eventually spiral and affect global trade, travel, and safety. Even with the tension between both countries high, people believe that there is still a chance for peace between both nations. This leaves people in suspense to see whether this attack will gradually get worse or better and shape their future.
