Various schools in California did not go to school on this specific day, Martin Luther King JR day, a day we honor the Civil Rights Activist who fought for racial equality.
Lots of students were joyed to be missing out on school, being able to stay home, go out with their friends, and hang out outside of school. As always, many pedestrians around the United States gathered up to celebrate the MLK Jr Parade but on this day, Monday January 19, 2026, not only was the parade hosted, but a big catastrophe happened that many people do not know about.
Towards the end of the parade, there was a man who was stabbed in Leimert Park near Stocker Street and Crenshaw Boulevard as he attempted to intervene in an altercation that broke out in the area.

Many police were notified of the situation and immediately responded. As they tried to calm the situation down, numerous civilians broke out in many fights and disputes in adjacent streets that caused chaos everywhere.
The person stabbed was a 40-year-old man who was transported to the hospital but the state of his condition is still unknown. We hope to believe that he makes a steady and great recovery, as this parade was suppose to support the person who fought for the advancement of Civil Rights, Equality, and Social justice for Black Americans, and although the beginning was great, the ending led to a great disaster.
