The incident occurred in the match between Real Madrid and Benfica for the Champions League (17,2026).The game stopped several minutes after Vinicius Junior denounced racist insults.The report was against the Argentine player Gianluca Prestianni, who would have said a racial insult during an argument on the court.The referee activated the anti racism protocol and the game was stopped for about 10 minutes.

What happened during the play?

Vinicuis had scored a goal and celebreate dancing. There was a reaction from the public and throwing objects towards the field. then the rival approached and said something covering his mouth with the shirt, Vinicius went directly to the referee to report the fact. some versions say that the insult was to call him Monkey but other player said Maricon.

What happens Next?

UEFA announced that it will investigate the case and they accused player denied having made racist comments. The club and coaches gave different opinions and defended their position

After the game, the players said that racists are “cowards” and criticized that they sometimes received protection.
