Will.i.am and Taboo, members of the award-winning musical group The Black Eyed Peas, remixed a video honoring Dodger players and East LA fans as the Dodgers enjoy their ninth MLB World Series win.
Both Will.i.am and Taboo grew up in East LA. The city they grew up in is highlighted in the video, featuring displays of lowriders painted with Dodger logos, images of the 7th Street Bridge, and Little League baseball team photos with Will.i.am as a child.
This win by the Dodgers, which ended in game 7 in the 11th inning against the Blue Jays, makes the Dodgers one of only 14 MLB teams to have won at least two back-to-back wins.
According to David Adler, a reporter for the MLB, he wrote, “Winning one World Series is hard enough, but there have been only 14 teams to win at least two in a row. Capturing back-to-back championships is obviously no easy feat.”
The last time there was a repeat championship was 24 seasons ago in 1998, when the Yankees won not two but three back-to-back championships in 1998, 1999, and 2000.
