Here at Augustus Hawkins High School the current world event is a topic that is usually talked about in classes, More specifically in our history classes. Since our history has a lot of similar events that could be compared to the events that are happening around the world, it is a daily topic talked about in our class. Mr. Marks is one of the history teachers here at Hawkins High who has had these moments where he has had a talk to his students about these events and even has had some things to say about it himself. Mr. Marks had made some connections about the current events that are happening now around the world and about past history events that have happened already

Mr. Mark speaks upon the tensions that small countries had against each other back in 1914 when World War 1 happened. He also speaks about the egos leaders had back then and the drive between resources wanting to gain access to them during these desperate times. And with the similarities happening today he believes that we are experiencing history again.

Mr. Marks talks about the current situation about immigration and them trying to deport Hispanics out of our country which he finds is similar to how it happened back then when people came to our country and how they were treated poorly and sent back to where they came from. He states that this form of power is abusing this type of power to make people hate a certain group of people, even though all these people are trying to do when they come to our country is maybe start a new life in peace.

Lastly Mr. Marks ends off by talking about the political stance of people and how divided we are as a country. He says that the country has always been divided and has never been united together in the political space but that instead it may have gotten worse in today’s time then how it was back in the days. Mr. Marks hopes that we can only teach about the history and not try to relive these dark times by having hope that in the future things change for the better and in the long run.
