A black, gold and white tower of balloons greeted guests as they entered the Spring 2026 Hawks House Awards Banquet. After dining of chow mein, fried rice and broccoli beef, catered by Panda Express (thank you Educare), seniors earned their cords for journalism and yearbook. During the middle of the event 21 students were initiated into the Quill & Scroll International Honor Society for High School Journalists. Annually, seniors and non-seniors earn awards in categories like best photographer, best editing team, best layout, etc. for their published exceptional work. To show their appreciation, family and friends were invited to the Awards Banquet. This year’s special guest was Hawkins alumni and former Advocate News editor Angie Guandique. “It was a cereal honor to be able to come back present the Quill and Scroll,” said Angie, who is also coach of the Hawkins Girls Soccer and Girls Golf.
