Leroy Smith (he, him) is a 12th grader (class of 2026). He is a student athlete who used to play soccer on his national team in Belize City but he moved to the US to chase his dreams. He also plays football and runs the 400m and triple jump for Hawkins HS track and field. For football, he thought he was not going to like the sport because of the violence. He did it because one of his friends asked him to join and he did not have anything to do and he didn’t know anyone else. He started it as something to do for fun. Now he’s all in. As for track and field, he was not the fastest but he was the best triple jumper on the track team. He made it all the way to finals then to city.

Leroy is not just breaking records on the field.  He’s also breaking records in the classroom. According to Principal Malta, he is going to break a school record by being the youngest person to graduate from Augustus Hawkins at 16. This means he’ll be 16 years old in college and he plans to have a college degree when he graduates at 20 years old.
