JORGE ARGUELLO VELASQUEZ, Class of 2024

JORGE ARGUELLO VELASQUEZ, Photographer

Jorge Arguello is a young adult who goes to Hawkins High School and is 19 years old.  He will graduate on June 10, 2024. When Jorge is not at school, he works in construction with his dad, and he is currently learning to be an electrician. After graduating from high school, he plans on attending LATTC to earn a degree in electrical construction and maintenance. He never planned to be an electrician, but since he started to work with his father and other people, he started to fall in love with that job. You will always see Jorge playing 8-ball pool on his phone; that is one of his favorite games, and he also really enjoys playing soccer.

Migrants hoping to cross into the United States from Tijuana, Mexico on May 11, 2023 are being processed more quickly as the deadline approaches. Some migrants have been waiting a week in an area south of the second border wall in anticipation of a change in immigration policy, Title 42, which may allow them to apply for asylum. U.S. border patrol agents give out one bottle of water and one granola bar to each person. There are approximately 500 people in this one camp. (Carolyn Cole / Los Angeles Times)
