Daniel Longoria, Editor-In-Chief
Daniel Longoria (class of 2022) is a scholar, an athlete and a decent human being. As editor-in-chief of the school newspaper (Advocate News), he would spend time motivating the staff, checking in with the adviser after football practice to make sure the paper was ready for print and yet he still found time to assist fifth graders to show off their homemade robots during the monthly competitions at Augustus F. Hawkins High School for Community Action. Every one of his teachers can tell you a similar story where he demonstrated humanity towards others. He works hard to meet deadlines and takes his work seriously. Daniel will be the first in his family to attend college and he won a $1,000 Spectrum Athletic Scholarship award which will help Daniel to attend one of his dream colleges, UCLA or Berkeley. (Update: Daniel was accepted to UCLA) GPA 4.064
The news segment about Daniel aired on Spectrum News, April 21, 2022. This was the first full year of school after the COVID19 shelter-in-place orders were lifted.
