Isabel De Leon (she/her) is a guitar player, writer, is sensitive and a fun person to be around. She is in her senior year (class of 2024) of Augustus Hawkins High School. When she is done with school you can find her practicing her guitar and writing in her free time about random topics. She tries to be helpful to everyone and to bring joy with her. As a future doctor she knows that it will involve a lot of studying, however she is very optimistic about her future.
Jaslyn De Paz (she/her) is a happy, quiet person finishing up her junior year of high school, graduating class of 2025. She is in LAFC, a soccer leadership program that has to do with working with kids at two different elementary schools. Jaslyn has been involved in soccer ever since she was in third grade and has loved it ever since. She plans to attend college and major in diagnostic medical sonography. At any given time you can catch her listening to music, playing soccer, or hanging out with family and friends.
Rihanna Stewart (she/her), class of 2025, has four older siblings and a lot of bonus siblings. She is the youngest of all the children. For the Hawkins High School basketball team she plays all the positions, “We all switch off, just in case one person isn’t there.” She is also the quarterback of the flag football team. In the journalism class, she is a photographer and one of the producers of the weekly news. She loves to watch horror movies, “I like all of them. If we go on Netflix right now I will watch all of them.” She says they don’t give her nightmares because she knows they are not real and God is protecting her. She is a member of the Hawkins BSU which stands for Black Student union. Rihanna considers herself very helpful when she is asked to do something.
Axel Garcia (he/him) is a proud student, a very positive person, and a high school baseball player for Augustus Hawkins in Los Angeles. He graduates in 2025. He aims to be successful one day by hustling and working hard. Inspired by his brother, he aims to go to college.
Alexandra Gutierrez is a high school senior (class of 2025) at Augustus F. Hawkins High School in Los Angeles. She is currently doing well in all her academic classes. She is part of the journalism team working as a newspaper editor and photographer. Alexandra has her goal set on attending college after high school. After college, she wants to do either business marketing or computer science.
Noelia Flores, class of 2024, has been a student at Hawkins High School for the past three years. She started her first year at Hawkins in 2020 during the pandemic of COVID-19. After high school her goal is to attend Santa Monica Community College and study nursing, then transfer to a university to earn a BA in nursing. For fun, Noelia helps her mom take care of the seven little ones. “I think it’s fun helping out my mom and auntie with the kids.”
Jorge Arguello is a young adult who goes to Hawkins High School and is 19 years old. He will graduate on June 10, 2024. When Jorge is not at school, he works in construction with his dad, and he is currently learning to be an electrician. After graduating from high school, he plans on attending LATTC to earn a degree in electrical construction and maintenance. He never planned to be an electrician, but since he started to work with his father and other people, he started to fall in love with that job. You will always see Jorge playing 8-ball pool on his phone; that is one of his favorite games, and he also really enjoys playing soccer.
Gloria Perez is a proud Latina senior student attending Augustus Hawkins High School and a member of the graduating class of 2024. Gloria Perez enjoys swimming and is planning for this year to be her third year participating in her school’s swim team. She aims to be a future cinematographer and would like to be the video director for her journalism class. Gloria is in ASB because she is interested in participating in her school for her last year of high school. Gloria is dedicated, determined, and a hard worker.
Rocio Munoz (she/her) is an outgoing girl, she loves rainy days, has three cats, and loves iced French vanilla lattes. She believes in feminism, universal health care, and respect for all. Her favorite classes are English, Art, and Ethnic Studies. Although she does not participate in it anymore she has a deep love for cheer. Rocio is class of 2024 and plans to become a lawyer in future years. You can catch her walking down the hallway and exchanging hellos.
